The MAT First Renewal Course covers administering oral liquids and tablets, inhaler and nebulizer, ear and eye medications, topical medications and EpiPen epinephrine auto-injector in a condensed format. 

Successfully completing MAT First Renewal Part 1 enables you to print your MAT First Renewal Part 1 Completion Certificate, which is required for admission to the MAT First Renewal Part 2 classroom course. This part 1 completion certificate is valid for 3 months.

HANDOUTS: You will need the MAT Handouts while taking MAT First Renewal Part 1. You can download them directly to your computer for reference during this online course.

REQUIREMENT: Only providers who hold a current or recently expired (within 90 days) MAT Certificate are eligible to take the MAT First Renewal Course. Those who hold a current MAT First Renewal Certificate are NOT eligible to renew via the MAT First Renewal Course. You must bring your qualifying MAT Certificate to the MAT First First Renewal Part 2 classroom course to be admitted. If you've lost your official MAT Certificate or need to request a new copy, please contact our MAT Customer Service System: matsupport@medhomeplus.org

IMPORTANT: You must take and pass the MAT First Renewal Online Test to complete this part 1 online course. You only get two attempts to pass this test with a score of 80% or higher. The test is open book and you are encouraged to use your handouts. Watching the videos is optional. There is no instruction or practice in the part 2 class.

WARNING: You are NOT AUTHORIZED to give medications to children using the skills covered in this course until you have successfully completed BOTH the MAT First Renewal Part 1 online course AND the MAT First Renewal Part 2 classroom course, and have earned your official MAT First Renewal Certificate.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENT: Evidence of current CPR/First Aid certification is required for admission to all MAT Program part 2 classroom courses.
