Course Overview: The AMAT (Allergy and Anaphylaxis Medication Administration Training) Course covers skills that can help you treat asthma and allergy symptoms and emergencies. This course covers administering all over-the-counter oral liquid and tablet medications (including Zyrtec and Benadryl), metered-dose inhalers, and the EpiPen epinephrine auto-injector. These skills are ALSO COVERED in the MAT, MAT IS and MAT First Renewal courses.
Important: AMAT Certification will not allow you to take the MAT Diabetes Course, the MAT Rectal Medications Course, or the MAT Seizure Rescue Nasal Spray Course. If you need to take one of these specific courses, you must first become MAT-Certified. You can become MAT-Certified by taking the MAT Independent Study (MAT IS) Course. Warning: You are not authorized to administer medications to children using the skills covered in this course until you have successfully completed both AMAT Part 1 (online) and AMAT Part 2 (in the classroom). You must complete both parts 1 and 2 to earn an official AMAT Certificate, which certifies you to administer the medications covered in this course.
Admission Requirements: Proof of current CPR/First Aid certification is required for admission to AMAT Part 2. A valid AMAT Part 1 Completion Certificate is also required for admission to AMAT Part 2. AMAT Part 1 Completion Certificates are valid for 6 months.
