Course Overview: The MAT Epilepsy Course provides instruction on the management of epilepsy in a child day program environment and covers administering medications and treatments that a child with epilepsy may need, including rectal medications, seizure rescue nasal sprays and vagus nerve stimulation treatments.
Admission Requirements: Proof of current CPR/First Aid certification is required for admission to MAT Epilepsy Part 2. A valid MAT Epilepsy Part 1 Completion Certificate is also required for admission to MAT Epilepsy Part 2. MAT Epilepsy Part 1 Completion Certificates are valid for 6 months. After 6 months, you will be required to take MAT Epilepsy Part 1 again, in order to be admitted to MAT Epilepsy Part 2.
Warning: You are not authorized to administer medications to children using the skills covered in this course until you have successfully completed both MAT Epilepsy Part 1 (online) and MAT Epilepsy Part 2 (classroom). You must complete both parts 1 and 2 to earn an official MAT Epilepsy Certificate, which certifies you to administer the medications covered in this course.
